Evidence Based information and activities on a variety of health-related subjects are made available through the Health and Wellness Program. This service encourages seniors to improve their physical and mental health. It supplies information on topics and events that are offered to the community. These activities are combined with those programs regularly offered in senior community service centers or scheduled in other locations, depending on the interests of a particular community. Videos and printed materials on health subjects are also available for loan to senior citizen groups and community organizations.
One of the most important services provided by the centers is a noontime meal. Nutritious, hot meals are served on all days that the centers are in operation. In order to reserve a meal at any of the centers, a reservation must be made by 1:00 P.M, at least one day before the date the meal is desired. Consumers who are 60 or older and their spouses, regardless of age, are given the opportunity to make a suggested donation of $3.00 toward the cost of the meal. Guests under the age of 60 are also welcomed to receive a meal at any center for a cost of $6.50. Donations given for meals are used to offset the total cost for the center meal service.
All the meals served at the centers meet Federal and State dietary guidelines. The menus are planned by the Agency’s certified dietary manager and the contracted registered dietitian. To see the current menu please follow this link
