-The Somerset Historical Center offers opportunities for Somerset County children as well as those visiting from surrounding areas to learn about early agriculture and related issues in western Pennsylvania. Share some of your time, build an interest or skill you already have, or learn something new with this volunteer job.

Elementary School Tutors – Volunteers are a great asset to children and teachers. Numerous school districts welcome volunteers to work one-on-one or with small groups of children to improve reading and math skills. AREA AGENCY ON AGING VOLUNTEER OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM needs to expand.  Volunteers are trained to do on-site visits with residents at nursing homes and residential care facilities.  Volunteers might deal with questions about rights and responsibilities or policies and procedures.   A professional Ombudsman oversees the program.  Facilities are located in Addison, Berlin, Central City, Confluence, Davidsville, Fort Hill, Friedens, Jerome, Meyersdale, Rockwood, Salisbury, Somerset, Stoystown, Ursina, Wellersburg, and Windber.

AREA AGENCY ON AGING APPRISE PROGRAM - Volunteers who like working with forms, applications, and numbers are needed to assist their peers with Medicare and other insurance issues, as well as rent/property tax rebates and PACE applications.
